Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
I went on a little nature walk today and watch this Pennsylvanicus pull on this wolf spiders web with his mandables to trick it into coming over to it, then he tried to grab the spider. Also noticing now that the legs are slightly brown which I hadn’t really noticed before cause I couldn’t see it with the ***** eye on the worker...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
Hey fellow ant keepers! I’m new to ant keeping and was wondering if you could help me identify this species of ant, it looks very much like a camponotus pennsyvanicus but they are much smaller, I know this because I have two Pennsylvanicus colonies already. Does anyone know if this is a type of cam...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
Came across this helpful list “barriers for what species” Does anyone have any personal experience and application methods? One thing I’ve noticed: people always say “baby powder” but be careful purchasing some baby powder is cornstarch based and not pure talcum powder that we want. http://www.form...

For some reason I keep thinking this because of the little tiny node that points upward looks very similar https://www.antwiki.org/wiki/Formica_subsericea It is a Formica spp., Can tell by the way the thorax dips...

Re: Species identification
Well I’ve never seen her leave to forage and her workers closed off the entrance with dirt last time. Fully claustral means she stays inside right?
