Queen died after almost a year, what do I do with the workers?

On July 18, 2019, I caught my first queen ant at Boy Scout Camp. Since then, I had bought an AC Outworld, Hybrid Nest, an Ant Tower Small, and a Test Tube Portal, not in that order. Although, I only ever got to use the portal, because I found my queen dead today. I’m 100% sure she died because I hav...

How to return items?

A few days ago, I ordered some large vinyl tubing. Then last night, I ordered an outworld. But then today, I found out that the outworld COMES WITH TUBING. So, is there a way I could return the tubing that I already bought? I understand if I can’t get a refund on it, but it’d be nice if I could.

Hello!

How many ants does your colony have? Also since your school has a bigger colony that might affect productivity in winter because they have more workers to support the queen.
Just counted, five workers. No brood, haven’t seen any for a while.

Re: Ants not eating, but are still alive?

Well, it’s been in the 80 F range for a while now, and the absolutely HUGE super colony of ants at my school show no sign of slowing down.

Re: Ants not eating, but are still alive?

And I posted that in September, and they still have been really inactive here now in November. I'm hibernation the ants hardly move to conserve their energy. It is best to keep them between 5-10 degrees Celsius during this period as it helps slow down their metabolism. You can probably expect them ...

Re: Ants not eating, but are still alive?

They live in a water test tube, and from the size of the bubble in the water portion, they have been drinking. I keep them in my bedroom, so it’s a room temperature environment.

Re: Ants not eating, but are still alive?

Well, that would explain them not leaving the test tube. The queen hasn’t been producing any eggs, either. She’s fertile though, there’s a few workers. Do ants move much in hibernation?
