Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Since I haven't been able to get good pictures (even now sometimes my phone wants to focus on the ant footprints on the tube instead of the contents) of my Crematogaster Laeviuscula founding colony til now, I thought I might spam a few pictures from about a week ago and now. The mealworm/brood pics ...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

So, ok. Colony moving question - when should I offer the mini-hybrid nest to my crematos? And, I'm thinking about just applying tape to the corners of the glass, as I want to be able to clean it out later when needed, instead of gluing it - besides the glass is heavy! I can't imagine them being abl...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Update from me: my Crematogaster Laeviuscula (however you spell it :P ) now has four workers (most recent one is pretty sturdy compared to the first three) and a bunch of eggs with a few pupa still! They're alternating eating honey water and moths or cut up mealworms. Now that there are four, it see...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

https://i.imgur.com/R0cThKA.jpg These are the black crazy ants that found my old gel farm :o I took the gel out and put peat moss and sand, I left it on my ant desk in the back corner, the 6 harvester workers all passed  these ants have been around the desk forever it seems, I guess they saw a...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

I only have the two, and the second is so newly hatched, the older of the two is all over her, I think trying to make sure she's okay? Cleaning her off? I don't know. I'm thinking of going to get some crickets so I can feed them a lil' one just in case older sister is thinking younger is protein. :l...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

I finally have a second worker for my Crematogaster colony! She just was 'hatched' (it looked more like the queen was taking the mom approach at "get up you lazy kid it's time for school stop fighting me", picking her up and rotating her, prodding at her  ) around 2am, and she is now slowly mov...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Can anyone help me ID this ant species. I caught her mid to late august. I think she is some kind dorymyrmex native to Arizona. https://attachment.outlook.live.net/owa/MSA%3Aj.e.cast%40hotmail.com/service.svc/s/GetAttachmentThumbnail?id=AQMkADAwATY0MDABLWZlZQBmLThjZjgtMDACLTAwCgBGAAAD2O5YeTegH0iAZd...
