Re: Carbohydrates
Hey ant family, I have a question regarding their carbs. Currently the only access to carbohydrates is their sugar water. I have one regular test tube with water and one mixed with nectarine and water (2/3 water). Would it still be recommended to add honey or some other form of sugar plus the sugar...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
Hey Camponotus family, Anyone try mixing indoor potting mix with Coco fiber as a substrate? I've read lots of great things but never came across anyone using that mix for our campies. Im getting to the point where their nest (too big for them at the moment and they're leaving their waste in the nest...

Just curious, I myself was thinking of adding springtails but was worried I don't have the right set up. What kinds of substrate do you use?

Housing too big?
https://imgur.com/a/XWhbCOh Hello all, I have my Camponotus in this AC formicarium. When initially buying I didn't expect it to be this big. I've noticed they leave their waste in the nest instead of the outworld and that is starting to concern me considering I can't really clean it. They donlut the...

Housing Next To TV
Hello all,
Has anyone had an any colony next to a TV? I just thought about the vibrations maybe messing with the queen or etc. If anyone has any experience with this I would appreciate the input.

Re: ID help
Hard to tell from the photo but it looks like a Camonotus major worker to me. Did you catch the other ant in with her or did she produce those since you have had her? Sure did. Got about six workers now. I took a few other photos too but the quality wasn't worth posting. I'll try and redo but hate ...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
Do you have a way to cool them slightly so they aren’t so active? Is the shrimp easy to access? Well I unplugged the heating cable so it dropped about 7 degrees but the thing with the shrimp is that it's kinda big and the ants put their eggs (not the larva or pupai) in FRONT of it. So the eggs are ...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
Alex07 I’d be worried about bacteria forming very quickly from the shrimp. It would be an excellent protein source though. Still not sure why they did what they did with the brood. I know that's my worry too! Now three days. I'm going to check and see if they moved their brood tonight but if they d...
