Re: Questions on queen progress - C. Penssylvanicus
To my knowledge, yes. I got a positive ID on her, and the others are nearly identical. I have had a couple friends that know a lot more than me about ants agree. That being said I'm happy to post some pics of the other two and get more input. I'll post them tomorrow, I'm at work on a 24 hour shift t...

Took some pictures of "Super Queen".

Questions on queen progress - C. Penssylvanicus
So, this is my first attempt at founding a colony and as luck would have it I have found 3 queens! 2 literally fell on my wife while she was on our deck. I'm curious about the progress of my queens, or more specifically the first I found. The first colony was found on 5/26 and the others about a wee...

Found queen with eggs
We just found another camponotus queen under our tomato planter. She has been laying and has more than a dozen eggs already laid. Should we capture her eggs with her if we're can do so without damaging them? Will she most likely eat these due to stress and start over? Never come across a queen that ...

Re: New queen question
I'll try to get a pic or video tomorrow when I get home. It doesn't look injured, no guts, she is laying eggs. It almost seems like it's heavy and she's struggling supporting it.

My concern is that she seems to be dragging her gastor or having trouble holding it up. Part of me is thinking that i...

Re: Camponotus flights yet??
I haven't seen any queens out in the wild yet, but I did just catch one the other day wandering around my bathroom so I think it's safe to say they are flying. I am in North Carolina so I don't know how far either direction their schedule would change for your location compared to where I am.

Re: Found 5/26/19 in Kill Devil Hills NC. Queen? Camponotus?
This is the best I could get the camera to focus without glare. I can just make out what I think are the scars on her thorax. https://imgur.com/lrnUtG3 https://imgur.com/lrnUtG3 It is a camponotus queen. Probably pensilvanicus or modac if the legs are red. but I don’t Id to the species level. Her le...

Take the picture file you have that is to big and upload it to Imgur. Then use the link imgur provides you to share it here. It saves the bandwidth from the server for the forum and size won't matter.
