Help Building a Formicarium

Do you think that this box (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PC4KNFS?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details) is big enough to house a colony for its first formicarium if set up in the manner shown here:

Thanks so much for the advice!

Re: Hibernation

So could I just put them in my garage when the temperature outside starts to drop? That way the temperature will drop at a natural rate.

Hibernation

So, from what I have gathered, to hibernate ants during winter you just stock them up on water and put them someplace with temperatures in the 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit? Just wanted to make sure that this was correct. Any other specific procedures for the hibernation of ants are welcome.
Thanks!

Maybe, but the abdomen does not look right for Lasius, I don't think they are.
Do you think they could be Forelius Mccooki?

What ant species do you believe them to be then?
I'm actually not sure.

Re: Help us identify please!

I believe you measure them from head to end of abdomen, excluding legs and antennae. Definitely looks like a queen ant though!

Re: Queen Ant Identification Needed

I know, she looks identical to my F. subsericea queen. If a taxonomist would be able to verify, then perhaps antmaps would add them to your state.
Where would I find a Taxonomist?

Oh, I see that now. I would say a closely related species from the fusca group of the genus Formica.
I still think she is Formica Subsericea despite antmaps.org. The Idaho fish and game lists them as a native species. She just looks so much like one.
