I caught this queen ant in Corpus Christi Texas on May 6th. This time a year Fire Ants and Carpenter Ants are out doing their nuptial flights. If you could help me identify this ants species I would appreciate it.

Hey gang, I’m a beginner at all this so please be patient. I caught a queen May 2 in Corpus Christi TX. She is red and .8cm long. I know that both fire ants and carpenter ants are mating this time of year. I hope it’s a carpenter ant because they sound better for a beginner but I’m happy just to hav...
