I just did a little reading about the Formica genus and I confirmed that this genus is crazy huge and diverse. Even when considering just North America, there are groups and subgroups and so on. I agree, most of them look very much like C.herculeanus to me. The sixth one down looks like it has an uncharacteristically reddish gaster, but I don't know what that means I don't have enough experience with C.herculeanus to know. . . Good luck!

Hard to tell, but she almost looks like Lasius to me.
