Re: What's The Importance of Wet Cotton Positioning?

I love the AC Test tube portals as well. They add a nice area for the workers to get food and allow expansion later.

Re: How often do you feed proteins to your colony?

Thank you! It's a very cool colony and sar far not real difficult at all. I counted ants in pics today and there are more than 500 workers but the amount of brood is mind boggling. There is gonna be a population explosion really soon! :)

Cleaning AC Out WOrld

Hello All, My Ants have trashed my Out World. Literally  It's not a problem to clean their mess but at the same time viewing through the plastic has become more difficult. The plastic has become foggy. Does anyone have experience cleaning the plastic of the AC Out Worlds? I don't want to scratc...

That's nice, thanks! :D
Out of curiosity though... how big is the Camponotus colony in numbers (approximately), and how long have you been keeping it?
Only since 4/23 so I'm very new to this. :) You can see the colony in my post Here:

Re: How often do you feed proteins to your colony?

That is a really good design idea! May try something like this too. Most of my ants are in AC setups so I may add the heat cable to them and try this with the smaller colonies. :D Oh and BTW I have a pretty big C.chromaiodes colony I feed protien everyday and sugar as the Honey I give is depleted. s...

Re: Delmarva (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia) Nuptial Sightings

As of today the only Nuptial Queen I have found was on April 23rd and is Camponotus pennsylvanicus The Colony I mentioned in previous post turned out to be C. chromaiodes and is doing well. I caught a smallish C. castaneus colony yesterday. It's funny before I got into ants I had to move a lot of ro...

Camponotus chromaiodes in AC Hybrid Setup

Caught this Colony on 4/23 after cleaning up some debris around work. They seem to be doing very well in this setup!
Opinions and advice welcome as I'm new to this hobby! :)

Here's a video of them attacking a grub. Another forum identifies them as Camponotus chromaiodes.

Re: Multiple Camponotus Queens

Not an expert by any means, however I was looking at quite a few description of different Camponotus species and the ones I researched all said Single Queen. in particular I looked up Camponotus Pensylvannicus, Herculanean, and a red species I cant remember the Latin but Chestnut Carpenter ant.
