Re: Questions
How much food you should feed a small colony differs a lot between species of ants but over all I agree with the previous comment. It’s also important to make sure your ant colony gets a balanced diet of carbs (sugary foods) and protein (insects and meats.) I personally have fed my small ant colony ...

Fighting within colony| need help.
I recently captured a small colony of ants (which I believe are some type of Myrmica species) from my garden. when I found them inside a hollow twig I decided to keep them. A couple days later and inside their temporary test tube set up (main test tube connected to portal and a honey water test tube...

Hybrid nest mini question
Will the new Hybrid nest mini work for ghost ants? I’m concerned that they might be able to escape due to their small size. If they could escape whats a better for containing them?

Re: What did I do wrong?
Just my advice but I haven’t founded a colony yet.
Isolate the queen away from the formicarium (or whatever they were in) incase it is a fungus or mite plague. I have had similar experience when in the founding stage where the eggs die. Usually a sign of fungus/mold or something environmental.

Re: When will she lay eggs.
In Texas I have found that many ants get lethargic and won’t lay eggs when its too cold. I personally don’t have much experience with ants yet and have not successfully founder a colony but I do have three species of ants and I keep them all on a heating pad. At the moment they are just on a heating...

Ants need heat. Help!
I have a Rover ant queen and Four workers in a test tube set up. There were eight but the numbers have declined and I think it’s because they don’t have enough heat with a current set up. What is the best heating cord? I would like to eventually move them into an AntsCanada mini formicarium but they...

Re: Hybrid Nest mini, small ants.
They appear to be rover ants or something similar but I’m not sure how big rover ants are.

Hybrid Nest mini, small ants.
I have been looking at getting the new hybrid nest mini for my “sugar ants” but I’m concerned about them escaping. I’m not sure what species they are but they are very small. Much much smaller than fire ants, which I have a little experience with. Is there a way for the smallest of small ants to esc...

Re: Invaders or lost ants
Lately I have kept a test tube with my ants in it outside due to our air conditioning and lack of ability to keep them warm. I plan to move them back inside soon but so far I have run into a few confusions because they’re outside. I recently picked up the tube to check on them but when I picked it ...
