Re: Newish Queen Issues

Good afternoon, I'm new here and am looking forward to any advice and/or opinions, Last year I picked up a Carpenter Queen running around looking for a home. I stuck her in a test tube setup (water, cotton ball, queen, cotton ball) and she happily laid eggs which eventually turned into 3 little wor...

Re: Is the bottom of the Outworld supposed to come apart?

Yes it is designed that way so you can stack outworlds if you want. This is on the website in the instruction manual (link below): IMPORTANT: When using the AC OutworldTM as a 2-in-1 living space, we recommend using 100% Silicone to seal the Floor Plate into place. Otherwise you will most likely exp...

Re: My journey keeping a Camponotus Pennsylvanicus Colony

Hi all Seems all is good with my colony. Check out the brood. The larvae aren't wasting any time! Look how big they are in so little time. I also see some new eggs! Sorry the picture isn’t the best. I had to use the flash and they definitely don’t like it so I had to be quick. https://i.imgur.com/DZ...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Hello, My son started his first ant colony last summer with a camponotus queen in a test tube. This winter he put them (queen, brood and 3 workers) into brumation. He has been trying to figure out how fast one brings them out of brumation and when. Would you raise the temperature one degree per day...

Re: How do you clean a test tube?

Hello, my inquiry is about how does one clean test tubes? I ask this because I have tried to raise queens in the past but unfortunately none of them made it past winter here in Denver. Now all my test tubes have this white residue that I can’t clean. If anyone can answer this question I would great...
