Re: AC test tubes cracking?

Yes they replaced mine as well. I haven’t had any of the new ones crack yet but it may be from winter diapause and the temperature being cold effects the tube integrity. I with they had glass options that fit the AC system. All you have to do is put a kleenex over the top of them. Poke a hole and pu...

Re: AC test tubes cracking?

8 out of the 10 AC Test Tubes I purchased now have long cracks going parallel with the tubes. They usually only crack that one way for me. (I looked up this topic about 6 months ago, and couldn’t find too much information on it. But more, and more of my test tubes started getting cracks in them.) F...

Re: My journey keeping a Camponotus Pennsylvanicus Colony

Just a quick update. Nothing too exciting going on really. I have 2 more Pennsylvanicus queens now. That makes 3 new this year plus my colony of course. I’ve been seeing a few other queens. Very small black one and even smaller reddish brown ones but I can’t collect every one I find plus I am only i...

Re: My journey keeping a Camponotus Pennsylvanicus Colony

Congrats, it's an... egg? Nice to see that so early on. Yes 3 eggs. Both queens I have caught have produced eggs within a few days. Won’t know if she is fertile until I see nanitics. She’s in a test tube with water on one side and a cotton plug to seal the tube opening. I have a heat cable running ...

Re: My journey keeping a Camponotus Pennsylvanicus Colony

I don’t really want two of the same so I may sell or trade her later once she has some nanitics. Thats my approach to it as well, but I don't know who I would give or sell them to. I know I could join the Gan Project but I'd rather just do things myself and find people on the forums. Now we both ha...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Hello Guys! Update: My colony is doing good. No sign of the brood being hatched yet, and Im also worried that they aren't eating the worms I give them. I don't stay around to watch, bu tit seems like they don't even go out of the tube to get food or honey. I'm worried that because they don't want t...
