Re: springtails being hunted

I personally have a large Tetramorrium Immigrans colony and they are OBSESSED with eating springtails, despite the fact that I feed them 2+ large superworms a day, plus the occasional dead mouse. (Compliments to my cats) I think it may just be an instinct thing but I do recommend you try giving them...

Re: Workers dying agonizing

I understand that it's been a few days since this incident. If your colony is still ok, I suggest you take the queen and separate her from the workers. They may be very sick. If not, they may be cold and fighting against hibernation.

Re: Ants won’t eat

Try mealworm or something with gooey guts. Nanitics are nervous and fragile. They will usually run away from anything that moves, including cut up earthworms. I usually feed my nanitics the midsection or abdomen of mealworms so they dont get scared by moving legs.

Camponotus Identification for Educational Colony

I have a Camponotus queen with workers that I plan on using to teach kids about bugs (life cycle, food web, ect.) and I'd like to know what species it is. I know for sure its Camponotus but I'm not sure what kind. I doubt its Camponotus Pennsylvanicus as the workers don't have the golden gaster and ...

Re: My Camponotus pennsylvanicus queen

How did you find yours? My dream colony is Camponotus Pennsylvanicus but I can never get my hands on one. I caught one while staying in a military camp in another state so I couldn't bring her home.

Re: My Tetramorium queen just died along with the whole colony

That would probably be a good idea. Just make sure that they are dead and not just hibernating. Heat them up very very slightly, because if they are still alive, you don't want to burn them to death. If they are dead, dump them out, then clean the test tube with soap and warm water. I would put rubb...

Re: Please Identify These Workers in San Jose California USA

It looks a little like an ant from the Lasius sp. Maybe Lasius Americanus or Lasius Niger. (Most likely Americanus). This is a bit if a guess, as the picture is a little blurry, but I'd say my guess is accurate. I hope this helped! :D
