Re: Do I have two queens?

Thanks for replying. I think it's pretty obvious that the two big ones are queens now because one is still alive. The other lived for about a week before some damned ants invaded her little container and killed her.

The 3 smaller ones died the very next day.

Do I have two queens?

Found these in the evening. Seems like two queens and two male alates but what's the small little winged guy? Cupid?

Also, does anyone know the species? Some kind of carpenter ant?

Re: Please please tell me that this is a queen ant!

Oh no! My worst fear has come true! I was hoping it wouldn't because of the fairly large mesosoma but the pointy gaster seemed to say male. :( :( :(

Caught and lost her a few times as I was trying to get better photos and had forgotten how fast it was. Do queen ants head for light because everytime she flew off, she'd head straight for the LED tube on the ceiling. I'd say she's about 11 - 12mm long. Black house ant maybe? https://www.youtube.com...

Sorry for the late reply, everyone. Unfortunately, it died after 5 days.

Re: Is this an ant in the first place?

Oh, thanks. I thought that they normally die after mating. Do you know what species is it?

Is this an ant in the first place?

Found two of these in the bathroom yesterday after a light shower. Was wondering whether it's an ant queen of some small ant species. I'm in Malaysia by the way and found them at around late 1900s. There's an abandoned oil palm plantation across the road if that'll help but otherwise, the estate is ...
