Southern Florida ~ October 30th

Found tonight at 10:00 pm in Southern Florida. She measures in at 5 mm. Her behavior was opposite to the rest of the ants I have caught, she wasn't energetic and only moved when the test tube was turned a certain way. Her abdomen is a dark brown/black. Her head and thorax is red, with black ocelli. ...

Re: October 24 - South Florida

Thanks!

I've also just had another ant keeper from Florida take a look and they seem to think it may be Forelius pruinosus. At this point, I'm just going to hope she lays eggs and it'll probably be easier to tell from there.

Below are the pictures I've ...

Re: South Florida 10/16

They're wild, I was mainly asking because there seem to be a good amount of them and was curious as to their species so I could learn more about them and their nuptial flights.

Re: South Florida 10/16

Thanks, after looking more into the Pheidoles, it seems to be a great match, especially for the Pheidole dentata. Same measurements and the appearance seems right. Thanks again everyone!

Re: South Florida 10/16

Measured again today and the earlier measurements of about 3 mm is correct, it's a bit difficult to measure these fellas considering their size.
