Re: Big Headed Ant? in Florida

Hey Antsdakota, I agree it's a Pheidole but I actually think it might be littoralis. In the Ant wiki it said littoralis have crescent mounds of sand around there nest entrance. This ant I took the picture of had same said nest entrance. Plus I forgot to mention the minor workers are all black in col...

Big Headed Ant? in Florida

I found these ants in my yard and thought nothing of them until I saw this "super major" crawl past me and right down into the nest entrance. The minors that were pretty much every where are to small and to fast to really get a good shot of them. However this super major just kinda stopped and "rest...

Re: Is Vinyl tubing Toxic?

Ok cool to know, thanks Colo3000. I feel a lot better knowing that.

I'll still wash it out just because I didn't really do that yet. But if it still smells strong I won't worry about it so much.

Re: Is Vinyl tubing Toxic?

Thank you Morbidbugg

Will try this out, what soap do you recommend, and do I just run the soapy water through it, or do I need to actually "wash" the inside of the tube. If I need to "wash" the inside of the tube how do I go about that?

Thanks again

Re: Is Vinyl tubing Toxic?

Tubing has no heating element anywhere near it. The inside of the tubing just smells that strong, but not because it itself is hot or melting. I was just using the melting vinyl smell as a comparison as to how strong the inside of the tubing smells.

Re: Is Vinyl tubing Toxic?

Thank you Whitelotus my only reason for worrying is because of how strong a smell it is. It almost smells as strong as vinyl melting. It seriously is that strong.

Should I still worry?

Is Vinyl tubing Toxic?

I have an interesting problem, not sure if it's minor, major, or nonexistent. I bought 20ft of clear vinyl tubing at Lowes, they don't sell it on the big spools, which means the only way to get it is pre cut to 10ft or 20ft. After buying the 20ft one 1/2in. O/D I got home cut it in half and ran warm...

Re: Camponotus habereri? or something else? in Florida

Camponotus habereri, seems to be the only sp. that fits the size and color of these ants. But as I said, any info on Camponotus habereri says they're only found in Asia. It just has me baffled is all.

I still think these ants are Camponotus habereri and if they are it's pretty cool.
