Re: My two Crematogaster colonies journal

Hey, sorry it’s been a while, but the queen that survived has workers! I’m moving them into a new home right now. I can see three confirmed workers + more eggs, but they are crematogastor, so there may be some very small ones I didn’t notice. I’ll try to get photos soon

Good substrate for my Lasius colony

So, I’m moving my Lasius colony into a deluxe ant tower. I need help figuring out what substrate to use, and if I need to bake/freeze it like other sources say. I’m really new to this and any help is appreciated! :D

Tetromorium caespitium? Lasius neoniger? Black crazy ant queen?
I agree. What time of year did you catch this? That could help pin what it is.

Re: My two Crematogaster colonies journal

I took my three Crematogaster queens out of hibernation in January. I used a heat cable to warm their test tubes and left them undisturbed for over five weeks. One queen has her first worker and all the rest have large larvae or pupae. The problem is that their tubes are drying out. Same problem. I...

Re: My two Crematogaster colonies journal

Hey, sorry for being so inactive. Unfortunately, one of the queens passed on. While that saddens me, there is good news too. The other queen has eggs! Her test tube was completely out of water, so I just moved her and her eggs to a new one. I’ll get photos in a couple of days, as I am on spring brea...

Help!! Ants not moving into new setup

Hi, so I recently got a colony of Lasius Neoniger ants. There is a queen and three workers. Their test tube is very moldy and the water is almost completely gone. I have tried many ways to get them to move, like taping tubes together. I tried putting their old test tube on a portal, with another, da...
