Re: Honey Dangerous?
Just give them a smaller quantity of it. If for some reason you can't, you can give them a test tube filled with honey or sugar water blocked off with cotton. I tried giving them less last time. I'll see how they look when I check in to feed them again. (They're so tiny I can't tell what I'm seeing...

Honey Dangerous?
So I have a small colony of acrobat ants, a queen and 4-5 workers. I've been feeding them a small section of meal worm with a bit of honey and they seem to like it. But the last two weeks or so, I've been finding dead workers attached to the food. I know the food isn't spoiled, as I feed the same th...

Re: Ants won't leave moldy test tube
Just posting to see if anyone has any other suggestions for this situation. I'm having a similar issue with a colony of Camponotus. They have an Ant Tower attached, but won't move into it, and the cotton in their two water tubes has turned almost completely black. It's occurred to me to pull the tu...

I'll figure something out. Hard to believe how fast carpenter ants are.

Re: When to Attach Outworld or First Formicarium
The problem with the feeding chute is getting their garbage back out. My tweezers won't fit in there, and even if they did, it would require the ants to pile their trash right under it, and I'm afraid they're not that cooperative. My other thought is to put the food in a spare test tube and th...

When to Attach Outworld or First Formicarium
Ok, so I have two colonies of Camponotus right now, both with 5-10 workers. I've been feeding them every few days and they seem to be doing well. At the moment, I have them in test tubes attached to an AC test tube portal (one for each, so they're separate, of course). I've been dropping their food ...

Re: Dry cat food for Laius Niger?
Interesting. In the wild, I've always found ants go crazy for dry dog food. I've not tried feeding it to a captive colony, though.

Re: Raw honey, bad for ants?
I think it was organic which means pesticides free right? Organic means nothing. It's a buzzword companies use to market products because they know it's popular right now. If anything, organic could well mean there's less quality control, not more (at least as far as human health goes). In terms of...
