Re: Camponotus workers steadily dying
Thank you both! Y’all have definitely eased my mind with the ants so much. I didn’t know how to @ you both so I just quoted each of the comments. @Nate515 I think you’ll enjoy the formicarium, it is really convenient, just don’t fill the water towers too high unless you want a small flood ;)

Camponotus workers steadily dying
Hello everyone, Lately my Camponotus pennsylvanicus workers keep dying. I am unsure why, but there was a period where I never saw ants die and now I feel like I’m noticing at least one dead about every week or so. Total I would say around 7-10 workers have died since I’ve had them, with it becoming ...

Re: Could this be a Camponotus major??
Hello everyone! I was feeding my ants (Camponotus Pennsylvanicus) today when I noticed (what I think is) a larva in my out world portion that is significantly bigger than the other larvae that I have seen. (I’m not sure why they moved most of the brood that aren’t in the egg stage up to the top) Co...

Re: New Camponotus colony moved into foraging area
Hello everyone, I have successfully started my first colony of black carpenter ants. Currently there are six workers. I have just moved them out of the test tube and into a mini hearth made by Tar Heel ants. The first day was normal, but the workers started moving the brood into the foraging area o...

Re: Ant queen identification
Update: I can see that one of the queens has a few eggs in the tube but now it looks like there is mold growing. Of course this would only happen to the species I want to keep the most

Re: Help, I caught a big ant in my house
I’m still new at this, but to me, it looks like a Camponotus worker. I could be wrong thoughnicolasfung wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 4:16 amhttp://imgur.com/gallery/weoCNgA
I am a starter, I wonder if
Someone can let me know if this is a queen, or not
Or do we know the species. And if it is mated.

Re: Solenoposis invicta
Hi, I know that solenopsis workers do vary somewhat in size, however I’m not sure if they are super obvious as majors like the carpenter ants. They do come in larger sizes though. Also, I live in southeast Louisiana and saw three queens last Saturday, so they are flying. We have a similar climate to...

Re: The Ultimate Burn Of Catching Ant Queens
Goodluck to you too. I live way down in Louisiana so it’s still in the 90s everyday. It took me weeks to find the first queens and the very first died. Then it was pretty much only solenopsis for a really long time. You should check the GAN project too.
