Re: Camponotus barbaricus problems

It's rather cold outside now, and it can be due more to the cold than heat I gues. One worker was already in agony when they've arrived, and the other one died next day. It can be also temperature shock, cause it's warm at the house. They have about 25 degrees (Celsius). It looks like the last one s...

Camponotus barbaricus problems

Ello! I've gotten my Camponotus barbaricus two days ago. There was a Queen and 3 workers, but one worker looks like she has broken spine she is not moving, currently she is probably dead. I thought it might be due to the transportation. I've had other two healthy workers. But today morning I saw sec...

Re: My Messor Barbarus colony :D

I don't have any cave, and my fridge might be to cold for them. And it's a first year. I/m not saying I will never hibernate. I will only skipp this year.

Re: My Messor Barbarus colony :D

I'm not going to hibernate them this year. I think this colony is to small for that. One year without hibernation will not harm them, and they will be stronger next year.

Re: My Messor Barbarus colony :D

Sad colony without the Queen :(

I have 27 workers or so. Soon I'll have to think about bigger out world and nest. I have gypsum nest, and I'll put it into arena inside. Even if they will cut it, it'll be still in outworld.

Re: Lasius Niger problems

My problematic L. niger Queen died. It Happened yesterday. It's sad, really sad. But this colony wasn't OK from the beginning. The Queen didn't have much offspring. She had a lot of eggs, and larvae, but those were dissapearing quickly, so they were often eatten. They have honney, and insects to eat...

Re: Lasius Niger problems

I will leave them this way, they know were the water is and the pupae are growing normally, if they are so stupid to live like this, it's their choice.Their t-tube is small, and the other is the same size and has chambers from styrofoam. There are much better conditions there, they will move eventua...

Re: Lasius Niger problems

My L. niger 1 colony has 5 workers. That is cool, because One was born. But I'm still not on the bright side, cause they've came to me with 6 workers. 2-3 died, and 1-2 was born. I'm still missing one worker. It all goes really slow. They still sit in their first t-tube. It's dry and dirty. They go ...
