You should never try to move a queen that has eggs and no workers. The queens almost never move their eggs into a new home. If they flee their nest due to heat or light they leave the eggs behind. Tar Heel ants uses glass attached with magnets. There is no issue so I don’t see why plexiglass would be different.

Well the last 5 out of 7 months were winter. Ants hibernate in the winter. Also if she hasn’t eaten for 7 months than feed her, especially if you didn’t allow her to go into diapause during her hibernation. That’s pretty obvious I think.

You’d think right? But I do it with my tetramorium and Lasius colonies and they just stay in their nest. Although I did have a camponotus colony move out of one of my formicams and into an empty formicarium on the other side of my desk that I was saving for a different species. I keep a lid on those...

The thing is in the wild they may walk 3,5,10,15 meters away to dump their dead. You can try extending the outworld. Usually they just start a dead pile not really where they want, but they have to put them somewhere. My colonies that don’t have lids the ants actually walk to the edge of the outworl...

Just do what your doing but give her an insect from time to time now that she has no workers to forage for her. She will probably lay eggs soon.
