Re: Camponotus Larva Not Growing

You took them out of hibernation in February which is still winter. They laid eggs which is nice but sounds like they were still in a state of dormancy. Egg to worker takes 2 months at ideal temperature and during their growing season. Are you still heating your house? If so then your house is not a...

Re: My Polyrhachis Dives progress from Dec-April

So you set up some sticks and then give them sawdust and then they just start making that? How old is this colony?

Re: Cleaning ant graveyards

Ants like to dump in the same place. So once you have it cleaned out maybe you can put in a little tray or piece of tinfoil or something that you can easily take out and dump. As far as there just being too many ants walking around the garbage pile, well you will realize that with Tetramorium sacrif...

Re: [HELP] My Camponotus barbaricus queen died less than 3 days after having her, what did I do wrong?

Yup you probably cooked her. This is why I don’t mess with heat sources. It’s also a confined space where the warm air has no where to go with little to no ventil...

Re: New ant colony caught on desk

A test tube or two will be fine for them until you get them or make them a proper nest. If their tetramorium or Lasius which I think they might be, they like being crowded together.

I’m not even sure what I’m lookint at, but looks amazing. Did they make that? I mean obviously they didn’t tie the sticks together, but they made that papery substance?

Re: Pavement ants larvae placement

I have a tetramorium colony and they also stick their larvae to the glass. I’m assuming it has something to do with the temperature of the glass, even though you would think the glass would be cooler. Could be some other reason I can’t currently think of.
