nice to hear you are new to ant keeping I might be a bit late but I recommend keeping her in a test tube for a few days in the dark undisturbed.

I don't have much experience with mites but what I have heard giving the ants large amounts of lemon it can reduce the amount of mites.

Size? And try taking a picture without using the flash, the queen is pretty hard to see this way... Also, this post should be made in the Ant species identification center... You'll have a higher chance of people helping you there.
