I Live in Canada, lots of ants. I still have a hard time finding queens. I wish you the best of luck in your search.

I think I found a Queen in BC Canada

Hi, I just captured a large winged ant. Is it possible it's a queen this early in the spring?

It looks similar to a queen I already have for a colony. I believe it's Camponotus Modoc.
How do I tell if it's mated?
