Queen ant identification
I caught a possible queen ant in Belgium on 30/6 and am wondering what species she is. I managed to take a good enough picture for an approximate ID. I tried it myself but I can't pin it down, not even on a family. The picture is in the link below, some extra I formation is included above and under ...

Myrmecina graminicola diet tips
So I caught what looks like a Myrmecina graminicola queen in Belgium. She appears to be doing fine although she is very shy and very inactive. I figured out she is semi-claustral which means I should already be worried about her diet. I gave some yam and som cracked nuts as a start while she is in a...

Giving Lasius Fuliginosus away
Hello there, I'm pretty new to antkeeping and so fat only have a Lasius Niger colony. I have another colony on the way of which the queen is yet to be identified and now I caught a Lasius Fuliginosus queen (self ID, was pretty obvious). The issue is that I can't find brood and at least one worker to...

Queen ant caught late at night in an elevator
I caught a queen ant in an elevator late at night, I assume it was stuck in there so she might have flown hours before capture (~11pm). I caught her in the center of Leuven, a city in Belgium. Put her in a test tube setup and took some foto's which are linked below. Her size is comparable to a Lasiu...

Re: Weird growth on ant head
After the ants died the "blob of goo" stayed in place. Wouldn't mites leave the ant after it died?

Weird growth on ant head
One of my ants has something weird on her head. I had something like this happen yesterday to another ant on her antennae and mouth. But this one is in a way worse condition. I took three videos of the last ant and three pictures of the first ant. Now I was wondering what it was and how I could prev...
