She died anyway. I think I accidentally injured her trying to move her from the water bottle into a vial. Thanks for trying.

I had the ruler app in inch mode, not millimeters. That should be 17.4x44.4mm

I think I got it this time! Definitely has elbow antennae, so I'm pretty sure I've got an actual ant this time. She also has wings, so I'm pretty confident. The thing is, this one is TINY!!! Caught in Tyler, Texas, she's about 0.11mmx0.18mm. Mostly black, but brownish in the light. I linked the best...

I feared as much. I've seen velvet ants around here before, but they are usually larger and lack yellow. This must be a different species from the velvet ants I'm familiar with. Thanks for the help!
