Re: Lasius Niger Queen and 3 workers just gave up?

Does sound weird. The mold could have effected the air flow with spores or the workers simply refused to care for the queen. Anyway things didn't sound natural. The workers should have been with the queen.

Re: Beginner with Tetramorium Caespitum e

I just bought my son a queen and 15 workers. They are in a test tube set up. The water under the cotton ball is almost gone. I tried putting drops of water on the cotton ball, but a few drowned. I have tried to get them to move into another test tube by tapping them together. A few escaped, but I w...

I've always wondered are all's drones infertile eggs or are those just infertile drones? It just would not make sense for it to even hatch if it was going to be obsolete? I feel a little mean using the word obsolete but considering drones literally have one purpose it would make little sense. Ant g...

Re: Myrmica refuse to hibernate and I am very worried about this.

Only other suggestion I would say was that to leave them alone in a dark place for long periods of time, just checking water every month or two.

Re: Lasius social parasite

I'm 50-50 on getting a future parasite queen. Like it is perfectly natural for them to take over existing small colonies but I'm torn at the idea of doing it myself just to add a new species to the ranks :( It's rare but sometimes certain ant shops have parasitic queens already with host workers, i...

Re: can queen lay eggs without mating?

Or the eggs eventually turn into winged male ants, which can happen for infertile queens.
