Identify These Ant Queens

I caught these two queens about one month ago in Florida and have yet to be able to identify them. They are small (around a half centimeter) and yellowish. One has a much darker gaster but I believe they're the same species. Any thoughts? Pharaoh ants? Some small carpenter ants (since the brood is t...

Yeah I moved back to college recently so I'm sure the movement of that didn't help her out. Might have happened before then but oh well, still have three queens.

Larva gone??

I am keeping three componotus p. queens in their founding stages and recently, I checked in on the. The queen that had previously had the most larva (13!) is now down to only 4 larva. I cannot find the other larva in the test tube. What is the cause of this? Did she eat them? The other two queens ha...

United States alternative to AAC/Ytong?

I'm in the southeast of the United States and am looking to make some homemade formicariums for my camponotus and pharaoh ants. I would love to be able to make them out of Ytong/AAC but I can't find anywhere where I can purchase some. Does anyone know where to get some/ a good alternative for it? Th...

Feed my queens?

Recently they have begun pulling at the cotton and it appears that they want to get out. Does this mean they are hungry and I ...

Florida Ant Queen Identification

I found two of these ant queens about a week ago on the west coast of Florida and would like to know what species of ant they are. I think they might be pharaoh ants but I am not sure. They are small (maybe 5 mm in length) with a yellowish body and a darker abdomen. Here is a picture: https://photos...

Help to identify two species of queens

I caught these queens last night in Florida and am wondering what species they are. The small ones are yellowish and I think could be Pharoah ants. The larger ones I’m pretty sure they’re big headed ants since that is what I saw crawling around the place where I believe the nest is. Also I was not s...
