Well usually when an ants nest is being invaded by other ants/insects the ants fight to the death to protect their nest. And that’s exactly what both colonies will think is happening to them. They have no idea you want them to be friends and be one big colony. They will think they are under attack....

So, i wonder if i can combine 2 unrelated colonies of Paratrechina longocornis. I heard that this species accepts unrelated queens, but i don't know about any merges between colonies. Has anyone tried this, or knows how they will act?

They are feeling safe. It is normal.

When they will need food, they will come out. If you overfeed them, they will storage the food and will not come out often.

Yes. I have tryed with a lasius niger. they have 10 workers and some brood. One of them is more apreciated than the other. I would not sugest to do this.

can we see photos of it?

It is to early to move them out of the test tube. when they will have 20w they will be ready. Probably they were feeling unsecured in the nest because it was to big for their colony for now.
