It should be alright for the ants. Try to also add a bit of substrate around the middle of the test tube portal. The only problem about this setup is maintaining the humidity within the nest. This is because the water in the test tubes will slowly dry out and the ants might even transfer their nest ...

Ive also actually had the same experience before. Based on my experience,try to turn the lights off during night time and you should be able to see the whole colony transfer everything to the new test tube/formicarium. Upon further research, the queen i got looked more like the pachycondyla sp. Anyone got any idea of how to take care of these ants?

need help for ponera sp queen
I have a ponera so queen that i got recently and put it in a test tube setup with dirt in it. I have actually ever owned one of these ponera queens but never succeeded.any help would be appreciated.

Try to find queen ants at the start of each season,i find it best during the start of the rainy seasons.try to search in pavements where there is a lot of vegetation at the side of it. Sry for bad english

Do queens in their founding stage need oxygen?
Hi! I just wanted to know if a queen ant could survive a place without oxygen while undergoing the founding process.Well specifically a lasius niger queen in a test tube setup with the most minimal oxygen for 24 hours(and with a few eggs). Appreciate any help I could get(and sorry for my bad English)
