Wild Ant Queen outside Ottawa Canada? Aug 11
These were taking on the 11th of August just outside Ottawa on the Ottawa River. They were on a gravel path under the electric poles just next to a small grouping of trees. If this is a queen and I'm not confused then this queen was working with the others just like any other worker. Not overly shy,...

Re: Is formiculture down?
I think they said they were taking it down to see why it's been so slow lately and also updating a few other things. It will be down for a few days. I happened to check out the chat feature just as that was being discussed.

Hi from near Ottawa Canada
I'm a total newbie from a small town just a half hour west of Ottawa. The closest thing to ants I've had were freshwater fish when I was much younger so this is all new to me. Managed to catch quite a few queens so far and even have nantics so any advice would be great. I think I have a couple campo...

4pm ontario canada aug 9 2018
Near the Ottawa River on a 2nd floor deck, found about 4 of them but this one doesn't look to great. I think I injured her, is she a queen? Can you tell? About 10mm and black. Thanks :) https://kerrilove.smugmug.com/2018-Ant-ident/n-Rg8Wh2/i-jnRkwHQ https://kerrilove.smugmug.com/2018-Ant-ident/n-Rg8...

Re: tiny night time flight ontario canada
Thanks for letting me know. First time I"ve actually seen them flying and crawling on the ground under the light. I hopefully got a few fertile queens. This one was the same time and place about the same size I think. I get a better feeling with this one but the picture isn't as good. I think this o...

tiny night time flight ontario canada
just up the Ottawa river from Ottawa, right near the river and some forest flying in the lights is it a queen or a male? I find the larger species a little easier, Even if I only get a ballpark I'd be happy. First year and I do have some promising larger speicies. Nope you can see this picture. http...

Re: Ontario rainfall watching
I live just upriver from Ottawa and I expect it to get stormy over the next few days. Expect the unexpected. We were calling for clear weather last night and we got a freak storm with a for only about ten minutes. It ended with a huge gust of wind like a tornado for about 15-20 seconds with a top wi...
