Re: HELP! Lasius Niger colony won't move from dried test tube to acrylic setup

So, it took almost a week but they finally moved! Here's what I did: The test tube was exposed to light at all time. Because the tube is a bit long, the ants kept moving to the center of it instead of moving out. So what I did was tilt the tube a little and moved the light spot to where they were. T...

HELP! Lasius Niger colony won't move from dried test tube to acrylic setup

Hi, I have a colony with 22 workers and loads of eggs. They were till now in the test tube and the hibernation went pretty well. But, after 10 months, everything is dry! Yesterday I attached the test tube to a small acrylic formicarium (that I bought from one of those apps to buy things from China) ...

Re: Help identifying huge Brazilian ant. Queen?

Thanks again! Sadly I just checked on her and she was dead :( Maybe she took too much damage at the pool, with high concentration of chemicals... But thanks anyway for all the help! I'll look on the same spot, maybe I manage to catch another one. Paraponera clavata is known here as a subspecies from...

Help identifying huge Brazilian ant. Queen?

Hey guys, I am currently back home in Brazil and after a really strong tropical rain, I managed to save a really big ant from drowning in a pool. Because of its large abdomen, I think it is a queen. I would love to start a colony here in Brazil as well and give it to my mother to take care of. But I...

Still didn't manage to ID my queen

Hey guys, I really want to know the species of this ant. She came to me in a beach in Croatia and just stayed in my finger like waiting for me to take her home. I tried already to ID her here but without any success. Now, after 4 months, she has 6 workers and I got a semi professional camera to TRY ...

Re: Help with Queens ID

Is she maybe a Formica cinerea? Based on the region, some characteristics like color, head... made me think its a formica. And the grey tones indicates maybe the Formica cinerea?

Hey! Its high season here in Germany! Every week I manage to catch some queens! I would like some help with Species identification, since I have no idea how to find the species for my queens.
