Identifying carpenter ant queens

I've tried and failed to catch Black carpenter ants that are native to Utah (Camponotus Modoc) and every time it always ends up being a worker. I know that I need to look for the wing scars and a larger abdomen, but it's really hard to tell since the worker are the same size as the queen. Anything h...

I would say judging by the temperature most queens have already started their colonies and are currently in hibernation, so I think you are a but late. You may be able to find some in Florida but it is illegal to take ants across state lines. I would say your best bet would be to check out the GAN p...

Polygynous carpenter ants

I was wondering if camponotus xyloni is polygynous because I would really like to see if I could combine my 2 queens they are so cute! And I want them to be together :)

I was looking through some carpenter ant species native to Utah and I've hear some are single queens and others are multiple I was just wondering which ones are polygynous

I like tetramorium (they are my only species thus far) they are very fast and small
