Re: Posible Ant queen ID

It looks like a parasitic Formica queen. She will need a few Formica pupae and/or some Formica workers, of a non-parasitic species. Are you sure she is? Because if she is and treat her as a Solenopsis she won't be able to grow a colony but if i try to do the parasitic process and she really isn't i...

Re: Posible Ant queen ID

I do not know if Solenopsis Queens can sting however I would caution you to be extremely careful both when founding this colony and transferring the queen into a setup. Ok thanks for the info. I'm very very aware of this ants sting so i will try to keep that in mind and will transfer her to a test ...

This does look a lot like Solenopsis Queen, however, I cannot ID this for sure .8 mm seems a bit small for the fire ant species. Please check to make sure this measurement is right.
Yeah 8mm... huge mistake stating .8mm lol

Id be willing to bet she's 0.8 cm not mm as stated above, making her about 8mm in length. Proper size for a solenopsis queen.
Holy... i stated 0.8 mm wow i'm a dumbass yeah 8mm sorry. My bad heh

Why...??? :( :( :( i can't wait
That you can't wait wont make them develop faster. Actually if you peek a lot at the queen she may get stressed and even eat her eggs so leave her alone for couple of weeks.

Queen ant?

I captured this ant and i want to know if it's a queen and the species. She's aprox. 8 mm long, kinda red-ish and was captured today (9:40am) after a storm last night in Querétaro, México wich is located almost at the center of the country. :) http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/EchoMeter4/3685485...
