Curious to know what species this worker is
Sorry if these aren't the best pictures. I find these workers everywhere around my neighborhood. They have a red thorax with a black head and black abdomen, longer limbs, and longer antennae. First is 10mm Second is 15mm I believe the first is a Tetramorium Caespitum The second I believe is a Camponotus Pensylvanicus. Just need the verification... I just caught a Formica queen last Thursday. I also have a Tetramorium sp.E queen and was wondering if the size of the “chamber” inside the test tube setup really matters. Difference between Formica and C. Pennsylvanicus?
Is there a major difference between the two species other than color? Do Formica ants also make their homes in rotting wood, or is that just the Camponotas ants?
