I just caught a Formica queen last Thursday. I also have a Tetramorium sp.E queen and was wondering if the size of the “chamber” inside the test tube setup really matters. The Formica queen seems comfortable in the center, but the Tetramorium seems to want to hang out on the end opposite to the wate...

Is there a major difference between the two species other than color? Do Formica ants also make their homes in rotting wood, or is that just the Camponotas ants?
