Found a bunch of Camponotus nests of various species today, sound off if anyone wants in on the locations. I'm looking for help finding alates as I'm having no luck.
Has it been season yet up here? Did I miss it or am I early?

Species ID (Camponotus?)
Was out looking for nuptials today, found quite a few of these ladies around. Got a decent sized one in a tube and brought it home for ident. I know where the nest is, now time to find out what these are. She's very tenacious, biting the pyrex tube and the cotton blocker, based on her size (little o...

Re: Camponotus flights yet??
No flights today, but found a ton of nests. Going to keep up each day for hopeful nuptials.
Anyone know if they do multiple nuptials or is it one and done? And do they all nuptial at the same time or is it staggered?

Re: Camponotus flights yet??
It got wicked cold this weekend up in the mountains, I found Crematogastor workers huddling for warmth under my garbage can lid. No luck on Camponotus this weekend, waiting for tomorrow when it gets a little more warm and humid, then I'm going to take a walk around the local wood trail. I found some...

Re: Camponotus flights yet??
You and me both! SC here but haven't been lucky enough to find any.
According to a past video from Mikey, they seem to like flying just after a rainstorm around this time of year. I went out on a short hike Friday after a mild rainstorm, but no luck.
Hopeful to catch some soon!

Mountain man SC Antkeepers sound off!
Anyone up near the Greenville/Spartanburg/Anderson area?
I'm starting to get back into the hobby and wouldn't mind meeting up to learn from resident masters and maybe get some tips on queen finding.
Thanks!

Hey All, Greenville/Fountain Inn SC area here. I've noticed the Solenopsis colonies at my office have gotten active (none in my backyard, I will not tolerate invaders). Rained today, was hoping to find Camponotus in my back yard as I have a colony in on of my older trees. Still nothing yet but I'd l...

Re: Simpsonville/Greenville, SC - Queen ID.
Not 10s after I posted, managed to coax her onto a white paper background and got my camera to focus in for a decent shot. Again, forgive terrible quality. I'm working with limited resources and a crap phone camera. Managed to also get a terrible shot of her with mandibles open, so you can at least ...
