Should I just try the lunchbox thing with a few cloths to keep them warm like that?
Also can powdered, non flavored, protein you mix with water work?

Re: Weird idea to keep ants warm.
That might work it, might kill them though. I recommend getting a heating mat or finding a less cold place to keep them. Try giving your queens a drop of nectar/protein each then cotton seal it. (To help them get going) How long have you been waiting for the workers? (The bigger the ant the longer ...

Re: Armstrong Bird Grubs as food for ants?
I got some dried bird grubs for super cheap and I was wondering if it was possible to use them to feed ants. They don't seem to have any additional ingredients. I think its these ones. https://www.petsmart.ca/bird/food-and-treats/wild-bird-food/armstrong-bird-grubs-black-soldier-fly-larvae---500g-5...

Weird idea to keep ants warm.
Hello, I am having issues with my queen ants not producing enough eggs for months now. I suspect that they are in a state of hibernation due to the cold temperature. I am considering using a hot water bottle covered in a cloth and placing it inside a lunch box with more cloth to warm up the test tub...

Re: Armstrong Bird Grubs as food for ants?
I doupt they would eat it, ants don't usually like dried up insects. I much prefer keeping a culture of feeder insects, much like livestock. If you don't want to do that, then you can give them protein jelly or protein liquid. Even if I was to dump them in water to hydrate? I see ants outside carry...

Re: Dont give up
Don't stress it too much dude, sometimes it can be really frustrating if a colony doesn't succeed. I guess you could try to find a different queen species which would have much more survival rate like lasius. Also i would suggest that if you ever get some workers, try giving them more protein than ...

Re: Possible Camponotus vicinus flights in southern Ontario.
Sorry for the late update, but it was raining at 3 PM yesterday so I figured nothing was going to come out during the rain. Still I've check today but I did not fine anything. I'm surprised, heck the normal ants themselves don't seem like they want to come out either. I've seen very little. I'm not ...

Re: Possible Camponotus vicinus flights in southern Ontario.
There have been a lot of species flying around lately. Good luck! I've not seen much but yesterday when I was working I did see a few males in the window so yeah they seem to be walking around now. I'm not sure what species they were but I think it was the small common black ant you see everywhere....
