Help Identify a Tiny Brown Queen (Ohio)

Caught her today in North Central Ohio about 25 minutes from Lake Erie. She had just walked out of my garden onto the pavement. Comparing her to a dime which is 17.91 mm. I'd like to make sure she's not a social parasite before locking her away. 1. https://i.imgur.com/cD1Ircz.jpg 2. https://i.imgur....

Can't help with queen 1, she's got some terrifying looking mandibles though

Queen 2 looks to be an Aphaenogaster Sp.

Re: Need Queen ID

Can't tell with those pictures, though the third makes it look like a wasp. The antennae don't look handle bar in shape, wasps can spiral their antennae up and look a little more "soft" in appearance.

The third appears to be Prenolepis nitens

Unsure / Lasius Sp. / Feel like I've seen this species before but can't find it again. :( 4. Unsure / Lasius Sp. / Formica Sp. 5. Measurements? / Lasius niger To me most look Lasius, h...

Re: Caught this "Queen" in Costa Rica. Pachycondyla? Help!

After rereading what I wrote, I felt I wasn't clear enough. She looks like she has an outworld, which is the container with the blue gravel. This is where she should gather proteins and sugars, she will need something else inside that container or separate from it that she can call her nest. The sta...

Re: Caught this "Queen" in Costa Rica. Pachycondyla? Help!

I'm not familiar with the species in Costa Rica, but I'd agree with your identification. She LOOKS like a semi claustral queen, and Pachycondyla is semi claustral. If all of this is true, she will need an outworld in her founding stage. A place she can call her "nest", somewhere dark and has some mo...

Re: Queen in Araizona help.

Your first two pictures and first two pictures of your second post MIGHT be Brachymyrmex Sp. . They're VERY small and can hold impressive amounts of liquid in their gasters per their size, specially the workers. She looks a little darker though. The seventh and eighth pictures of your newest post al...

Re: New Queen!

Can you take as close of a picture that your camera can manage with more light? It's difficult to tell a lot of the non-common genera without size and hair reflecting light. I personally am not comfortable taking a guess with what I see, though my posts on this bored are always guesses anyways. :lol...
