Hello, I have 2 small founding colonies of Formica Sanguinea (2 workers and 6 workers + brood). I have read on the internet that they are often polygynous in nature. How can I merge them? Maybe put them both in the fridge for 10 minutes to calm them down and then connect test tubes?
Thank you

Re: Queen Ant ID
I found the queen alone, they are all the same size except one much bigger and darker one on her left, I though it might be a major, but I guess it's an alate as you said. The other ones are smaller, you cannot see it so clear on that picture

Re: Hypoponera punctatissima
Does it make a big difference for caring if it is a Ponera or a Hypoponera?
I don't have the equipment nor the knowledge about these ants to distinguish them.

Looks like a Formica rufibarbis to me given the size of the 2 nanitics, but I added some stolen brood from a formcia sanguinea or rufa colony to be sure, what do you think?

Hypoponera punctatissima
Hello, I have found a colony just like that one from the youtube video in Luxembourg. The youtuber talks in German, but can anyone give me more information about it? I cannot distinguish a queen, could they use gamergate "queens"? All the colonies that I have found seem to range from 10-30 ants. Tha...

Captured this super tiny queen of about 4mm. I live in western Europe. I thought it is a Tetramorium or Solenopsis Sp.
Can I have some advice at the same time too please.
Thank you!
