Tapinoma sessile or Nylanderia sp. ? Jasper Indiana PLZ HELP
Hey, I found his queen while I was cleaning up our patio. She was still winged, but couldn’t fly and was acting like a fertilized queen. She is 4 mm long and I’m pretty sure she isn’t tapinoma sessile, so could she be a Nylanderia sp. ? Here are some pictures, sorry that they aren’t very good, she’s...

Re: Camponotus queen Jasper Indiana
I have a guess that they are Camponotus chromiades, I think, but I still want a second opinion!

Camponotus queen Jasper Indiana
Hey, I caught four of these queens. At first I thought hey were C. Pennsylvanicus, but then I saw the red tint and I am now really questioning what species they are. They are 15 mm long and I found them in rotting wood (although you probably already knew that). Here are some pictures: http://i.imgur...

Re: Keeping an established queen w/ out workers
You can totally restart a colony that has lost its workers. It’s not a problem at all. I’ve done it many times with different species. They don’t forget how to lay eggs and take care of larva just because they lost their workers. You just need to feed the queen. Feed her sugar water and insects. I’...

CHECK STICKS AND LOGS EVERYONE, by cracking open two sticks, I found three Camponotus subbarbatus queens and one Camponotus nearcticus queen! The three subbarbatus has just dug their founding chambers, while the nearcticus was with five other workers (of whom I couldn’t catch ).

Re: Keeping an established queen w/ out workers
Okay, so I recently caught a Camponotus nearcticus queen, and she had 5 workers. The sad part is THAT I LITERALLY COULDN’T CATCH THE WORKERS FOR THE LIFE OF ME. So now I am left with just a camponotus queen. I was wondering if I fed her honey (which I did) and gave her a whole new test tube setup, ...

Re: Keeping an established queen w/ out workers
Alright! Glad to know I’m not alone! I will attempt to raise her as a fully claustral queen and see if she makes it and starts the colony over again, because one person on another site kept saying it won’t work, and I just have a hard time believing that

Re: I FOUND A QUEEN, but I think it is Tapinoma sessile
Last year, I was keeping them outside because my parents didn’t want them inside (I’m hoping this year is different), and the wind picked up the container I had them in during a storm and shattered all of the test tubes. :? Currently, I’m hiding them inside, they’ll never find out  LOL! FOR SC...
