Hey I have a Lasius niger colleny in a 3D printed Nest and outworld. It is all in White PLA and all thou it is very god for look ing at the ants it seems a bit cold. should i put a bit of sand and maybe some twigs in the outworld i would boil it first. it is maybe 20+ workers and the amount of eggs ...

@AntsDakota Thanks, i use drones from my time as a beekeeper but i think i prefer males more, so all know what we mean, there are no need to make it harder for the kids to understand when they start out. ;) later we can develop into ant loving nerds :geek: and learn the more technical terms.

Welcome to the forum you always have Lasius Niger (black pavement ant) in UK i think, they are small. I caught 5 queens this summer and they founded colonies and have more than 20 ants now they are not as flashy as lots of other ants, but they are easy and very interesting to watch grow and move abo...

It is not that you have to take care of them the kids might do all the "work" but it is more of a philosophy of mine, my daughter goes horseback riding 2 times a week and i spend a lot of time in cold stabels cleaning boxes preparing food for the horces, but we have a grate time becorse i like horse...
