Re: AC Outworld™ 2.0

Wasn't really what I was looking for but thanks. My point was I already have one outworld and would like to expand upwards to accommodate a live cactus. I do have another source for outworlds and nests but do not want to uproot the setup I have described.

My knowledge has only come from constant observation, note taking and research. Yours will come in time, what is true in our region may be completely opposite in yours. Happy anting!

AC Outworld™ 2.0

Out of curiosity, is there a reason the outworld is so expensive? I love it's design, and currently own one from an all you need kit. I would love to buy a couple more to expand my current set-up, but the price.... Honestly $81 for a form fit acrylic container with some holes drilled in it is quite ...

Re: Saskatchewan Nuptial Flights

Hey guys, new starter to the ant colony world here. I only got into it over the last month, finally picking up the basic supplies to house a colony. I was wondering if anyone had any sort of guide, personal experience, or other useful information of when to look for queens in Saskatchewan. I've bee...

Re: Shipping and delivery

I received my tubes and portals in 3 days, shipped to Alberta, Canada. So I would assume fairly quick for you, not having to go through customs

Re: she just can't be camponotus

Looks to be camponotus. I'm not familiar with non-Canadian species, but most species' nanitics are rather small. Most tropical genera will develop faster as well.

Re: Keeping Formica rufa

Does any one keep the above and what special requirments do they need. I know in the wild there nests are large and often a colony has more than one nest and many queens. I keep seeing them about local to me and they are a good looking ant :) Your best bet for raising a parasitic queen will be to g...

Re: Outworld or test tube portal

I am new to ant keeping and have a question, should I get an outworld, test tube portal, or both? does it depend on the species? does it depend on colony size? I would start with a test tube and portal set-up, but have an outworld ready. You can practice designing your outworld, without being in a ...

Re: Fluoride/ Soft water

I never use water straight from the tap, as ours here is loaded with chemicals also. A simple Brita water filter seems to be fine however, and I also use bottled spring water.

Alberta Ant Keepers Facebook Group

Hey all! I have just created a Facebook group for hobbyists and enthusiasts in Alberta, Canada. Feel free to join, it is small but there is no other dedicated group for our area that I could find. Focused on species found in Alberta, and our experiences in the hobby. Hopefully we can create a local ...
