Hey,
I would wait until you have about 50+ workers. Given their small size, they are likely to remain in one small corner of the nest, and use the remaining space for waste. This will lead to possible mold and mite issues.

Re: Camponotus Nicobarensis and silicone hose
As for the material, I do not believe it would harm the ants. We use the clear vinyl tubing for visibility. Camponotus are notorious for chewing through soft material, so if you use silicone, really monitor the ants for any action of chewing the hose.

Re: GAN Project Improvement Suggestion
Is there any thought on adding an option for pictures of the colonies? I know this could open a whole can of worms, but for people who have no idea what they are looking at by species name, it may help them make their decision. I do send pictures via email after the fact anyways, but this could elim...

Re: Nervous about buying from a GAN farmer
The farmer is responsible for updating the listing, and informing the GAN admin of those changes.

Re: Nervous about buying from a GAN farmer
For people who have bought from a GAN farmer, what is the interaction like? I don't know why, but I am nervous about buying a queen ant. Hey, I am on the GAN. Typically the conversation starts via email chain from AntsCanada, then the buyer reaches out to the GAN farmer for what they are looking fo...

Re: AC Outworld™ 2.0
Wasn't really what I was looking for but thanks. My point was I already have one outworld and would like to expand upwards to accommodate a live cactus. I do have another source for outworlds and nests but do not want to uproot the setup I have described.

My knowledge has only come from constant observation, note taking and research. Yours will come in time, what is true in our region may be completely opposite in yours. Happy anting!CombinedHalo467 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 7:41 pmok you obviously know alot more than me so you do all the talking

AC Outworld™ 2.0
Out of curiosity, is there a reason the outworld is so expensive? I love it's design, and currently own one from an all you need kit. I would love to buy a couple more to expand my current set-up, but the price.... Honestly $81 for a form fit acrylic container with some holes drilled in it is quite ...

Re: Saskatchewan Nuptial Flights
Hey guys, new starter to the ant colony world here. I only got into it over the last month, finally picking up the basic supplies to house a colony. I was wondering if anyone had any sort of guide, personal experience, or other useful information of when to look for queens in Saskatchewan. I've bee...
