I received my tubes and portals in 3 days, shipped to Alberta, Canada. So I would assume fairly quick for you, not having to go through customs

Looks to be camponotus. I'm not familiar with non-Canadian species, but most species' nanitics are rather small. Most tropical genera will develop faster as well.

I never use water straight from the tap, as ours here is loaded with chemicals also. A simple Brita water filter seems to be fine however, and I also use bottled spring water.
