Re: Lasius Niger behaving in a strange way
As long as you’re offering them enough food they eat exactly the amount of food that they want to. They built the wall because the test tube opening is too large for them. Try giving them sugar water. Honey is pretty dangerous for tiny Lasius. Ok I'll try that. Thanks! Also can I feed them fruits l...

Lasius Niger behaving in a strange way
Hi! I recently got a colony of Lasius Niger. They currently have around 20 workers. I keep them in a test tube placed into an outworld. The thing is, they are behaving in a very strange way... They built a thick layer of sand in the test tube. It's basically a wall that seperates them from the outwo...

Feeding Lasius Niger
So I am new to ant keeping and I currently have a small colony of Lasius Niger. They currently have one queen and four workers and are housed in a test tube setup. I know that ants need a sugar food source and a protein food source. For sugar, I feed them small drops of honey and I am feeding them b...

Dry cat food for Laius Niger?
Hey! So I currently own a small colony of Lasius Niger (Queen, one worker and lots of brood). I was wondering if it is okay to feed them dry cat food as a protein source. If so, is there a specific type of cat food that ants eat.

Ant barrier for Lasius Niger?
Hey! So I have a Lasius Niger colony in a test tube and they are ready to move into an ant setup. The outworld that I am using is made out of plastic. I have heard Vaseline is a good barrier. Is that true? I really need an effective barrier because my outworld does not have a lid. Thanks!

Re: Help moving ants?
Make sure to keep your new nest in the dark while exposing the current one to light and heat. You can also make the new nest moist and the old one more dry. Just give the ants some time and they will relocate to the new nest eventually. Sometimes this takes days, but most of the time they will reloc...
