Re: Predator in the tank

Ants in temperate environments go through hibernation in the winter I believe so that may have been the cause of the ant inactivity(I am from the tropics and have not seen ant hibernation so forgive me if I am wrong)

Outside food for ants?

If I can’t get feeder insects from the store should I feed insects from outside?(My family doesn’t use pesticide)

Seriously I can’t convince my mother to buy me some, sustaining my ant colonies on smooshed mosquitoes currently

And also how should I find the insects outside?

Re: Need help identifying queens

Did some research I’m pretty sure queen 4 is Camponotus tortuganus but pls check just in case

I mean check the worker pic cos the queen is from the same species as the worker(I know that cos I got them from the same colony when I abducted it as an alate and got it mated with a male I found)

Re: Need help identifying queens

can you get mesurments? Ok 1st queen(crematogaster/solenopsis) 0.5cm 2nd queen(solenopsis?) 0.7cm 3rd queen(unknown) About 0.5cm Probably infertile bcuz it never laid any eggs 4th queen(definitely Camponotus sp.) About 1.3cm I think it’s bigger cuz I fed it recently I’m scared about the Camponotus ...

Re: Need help identifying queens

Also can u help identify this ant? It’s just a worker but I have a queen of the same species so it’s useful to know species. Might be Camponotus?
