Re: camponotus pennsylvanicus x3 journal

Well not much to report mostly larvae large from the pennsylvanicus queens. Was given 2 old fish tanks currently cleaning them up to make new ant nests for both queens when the time comes. My subbarbatus queen now has 2 nantics noticed things in the forging area and when I looked 2 small nantics the...

Re: Raw honey, bad for ants?

I used processed organic honey myself doesn't seem to bother them. Sugar water works well but have to watch for mold. If they like the strawberry's I would stick to what works. I would keep a clean water source around as well. Sugar water all the time can't be good for them.

Re: Gan project

I get the same warning on http://www.AntsCanada.com/queen-ants-for-sale/ as I do the forum and I quote " The website www.AntsCanada.com does not support encryption for the page you are viewing. Information sent over the internet without encryption can be seen by other people while it is in transit. "

Re: Queen Ant found, Need help on how to keep it.

Not sure need to know the species. Most ant queens minus a few do not require food, till the 1st workers show up. After an id will be able to tell you more. I only check on mine once an month, any more might stress the queen out.

Re: Queen Ant found, Need help on how to keep it.

That set up sounds fine if shes laying eggs she is comfortable. Poke one more hole in the top so you can water the towel with a needle. I have seen a few colony's founded this way, nothing seems wrong. As the old saying goes if its not broke don't fix it. When she has 15-20 workers I would think abo...

Re: HELP ID QUEEN ANT!!!

Awesome I thought so!!! Great to hear she dropped the mite. Mine did the same, I too had the same exact mite problem. The red color is because those mites are like ticks blood suckers.

Gan project

Would love to join the gan project but I am not keen on the idea of my personal info on this site. Esp when the site is not private or secure according to my browser as well as my i.s.p. The potential for this to go very badly is to high for myself.

Re: HELP ID QUEEN ANT!!!

Well 1st keep her away from your other ants. See the mite on her leg? She looks just like my Camponotus subbarbatus see my journal if you would like. I am 100% sure these are in your area.
