Re: Found ants and possible queen in my old flower pots. Help IDENTIFY

The other ants do not look like Lasius flavus . There are literally zero practical visual indicators that show whether a queen is mated or not. Social parasites do not have large gasters. Ok so maybe I do have some queens. There's about 4 or 5 wingless, larger ants. I have my fingers crossed becaus...

Re: Found ants and possible queen in my old flower pots. Help IDENTIFY

From pictures and my inexperienced sizing compared to pictures and behavior research. I don't think I have a fertile queen of any species it is. Unless queens grow larger over time and I have a 1st year queen newly nuptial.

Re: Found ants and possible queen in my old flower pots. Help IDENTIFY

Are you sure, it appears to be a lasius queen, but the yellow workers are Lasius flavus workers, along with the male. Oh god. What's that mean. The winged males all died, I couldn't get them put of the enclosure to release. But all the other la including the other potential queens and yellow worker...

Re: Pictures of a nuptial queen possibly, found her last night.

You use a measuring tool (i.e. a ruler, with centimeters and 1/10 cm millimeter markers.) Please no pennies. :D I can tell that she is another Lasius social parasite queen, possibly Lasius claviger . What do you think about this species and are their any specialty things they might need above other...

Ok I'll try. Hard to keep still, and they're in the enclosure now. I might not be able to measure t...

Video of new ants in their enclosure. Hours after introducing

https://flic.kr/p/217PCBp https://flic.kr/p/Z382Gu In the videos I show how they've already started attacking feeder bugs. I caught a wild ear wig (not crushed) and threw him inside, you .ca see they are quick to attack him and hold him down. In the videos you can see what I hope to be winless queen...

Yes, those are Lasius claviger queens, although there is no indication that they are mated. They are most likely nuptial queens that failed to fly this year. As stated in your other ID thread, measurements are required for reliable identifications.
Ok. Good info thank you!

Re: Found ants and possible queen in my old flower pots. Help IDENTIFY

We can see a dealate Lasius claviger queen, along with males and workers, but this doesn't mean that the dealate is the colony's queen. Ok so in the enclosure there are 3 ants the same size with slightly bigger heads and more color defined on their back end. They have no wings and they have wing sc...
