Componatus nanitics ate all the larvae!

Hello everyone! I'm back after sourcing new ants after my Nylanderia ant colony died of Colony Collapse disorder as documented somewhere in these forums in 2018 I think? So okay, I finally bought some Componatus Albicans from Australian ant dealer Ant Keeping Depot, hey they were listed as 'beginner...

Ant Colony Round 2

20181010 Location: Brisbane. Suburb Toowong. Caught a 10mm long Queen in my Carpark as I was about to go out. Time around 1915. The air was thick, heavy, humid and still. Perfect for nupital flights. I saw another queen skittle by as I exited my apartment, but a female neighbour was also leaving her...

XXXX. Queen died! My poor Queenie! Still wearing her cape of tattered wings. Some ants crawl all over her corpse, poking her with their antennae; while sick, wriggling ants struggle around them. We...

Re: Ant being ejected from the nest.

Update! Indeed, It does appear to be stress. Since putting them into the Ferroro Rocher box outworld, their population has exploded! I lost count at 300, likely approaching 500 now. I'd shine a light to spy on Her Highness, and she would walk on top of the brood pile spinning around several times to...

Ant being ejected from the nest.

Hello! I live in Brisbane in Queensland. I believe I got a tiny colony of 13 ants, Nylanderia or Prolasius I believe (matches the pictures I have seen). Got them since February when the queen ran out from under my keyboard at work. I apologize for the lack of pictures, my Sony Xperia takes absolutel...
