I've caught 5 Solenopsis richteri queens yesterday. I put them in test tube setups and they are in the warmest room if my house in the darkness of a shoebox full of towels.
Do I need to feed them?
How long do I wait till I see eggs?
Excited...

Pictures if you are interested.
They are ~7mm long.

Re: What should I do? solenopsis richteri
So I have one solenopsis richteri queen that laid eggs. They are very tiny and next to the cotton ball. My wife couldn't stand not looking even though I caught them only 6 days ago.
Anyway, I have bought the Omni All You Need Gear in preparation for a colony.

My question...
If it is already September (NE Mississippi) and getting close to winter, am I going to have a small colony before they hibernate? Should I do anything to help them?
